Each year, my son has a different theme for his birthday party. He decides on the theme (usually months in advance), we work on his invite list and he even sketches his cake design for me! This year was sooooo much fun! We had a tropical beach party theme! We had water games, treasure hunts, singing PPAP (yes, that's a thing) and, of course, lots of baked goodies! Over the passed few years I have noticed the Halloween tradition take off in Australia. Every year for the passed 3 years my son dresses up and we go 'trick or treating' down this one street in my 'hood. It's amazing! All the kids are dressed up and the homes in this street look like something out of a horror movie - everyone goes to so much effort for this one afternoon/evening in October. I love it because it has a beautiful community feel about it. If you are looking for a quick DIY Halloween costume for your little one - read on! I have scoured the internet just for you and collated the cutest and easiest costumes! Happy Halloween! xxx
Painting with lustre on cakes has been on trend for a while. Lustre is a powder which shimmers when mixed with alcohol and is available in a range of colours (gold, silver, champagne, white, copper). It can really take a simple cake and transform it into a glamorous cake. A cake painted with lustre can be complemented with fresh flowers or sugar flowers. Last year, I wrote a tutorial for one of my fave magazines on working with lustre and fondant stripes - Sweet Magazine! The article was featured in the magazine and my cake made the back cover! The image above was taken by the lovely team at Sweet! If you would love to learn how to re-create the cake in the pic then this blog post is for you!
Party favours (or bonbonniere) are a lovely way to thank guests for sharing your special moment. Over the years I have tried many different party favours depending on the event – weddings, engagements, christenings, kids parties, adult parties. To help you sort out your next party favour, I have collated my favourite recipes which can be adapted for any party! I’ve also included a dairy free/vegan (healthier) option as well.

One of my fave cakes is my raspberry + hazelnut with vanilla buttercream. When I first started cake decorating I was very protective over my recipes. These days, I have mellowed and really enjoy sharing my passion with others. My friend Anna LOVES my raspberry + hazelnut recipe and so I've dedicated this blog post to her - this one's for you Anna!
