Collaboration is key! Ness and I sat down and spoke about the colours she would like and the theme. Ness chose baby blue/yellow/grey + elephant. She showed me her inspo and I went away and designed her invitation. That was a beautiful process because it laid the foundation for my inspiration and ideas for the dessert table!
I tried to capture some pics of the styling and close ups of the all the little bits and pieces that helped make the table look very special on the day. Hope you like it too!
This was no ordinary baby shower! I went a little OTT for Ness! The main cake was a 2 tier cake with a little elephant figurine on top. I piped some super cute dots on the bottom tier and left the top tier in pale lemon yellow. The cake was so cute I didn't want Ness to cut it!
I made 2 other teeny weeny cakes. One was a lovely grey cake with an elephant cookie on top and the other cake was a replica of my invitation design.
I also made some elephant cookies and cupcakes too! They filled the table nicely! I styled the table with lots of gorgeous flowers in old champagne bottles, mason jars and little bottles. Just because Ness is having a boy doesn't mean her baby shower couldn't have a little bit of pretty!
I am in love with marbling at the moment! So I couldn't resist an opportunity to add some luxe to these super cute elephant cookies. I love the marbling and gold leaf!
Vanessa's mother in law has glassware to die for! I'm talking cake stands, teacups, crystal bowls. It's like that scene in Sex and the City when Carrie has the amazing shoe wardrobe - except with glassware! I was able to use these amazing pieces to add some colour and prettiness to the table. I filled them with milk bottle lollies, meringues and marshmallows. |
